This reminded me of reading an almost 2000-page commentary on German contract law many, many years ago (back to back as well, for some exam).

On page 200 or so I found this: "My head hurts". On page 300: "This headache isn't going away", and so on. On the final 500 pages or so, the auhor of these scribbled notes must have gone completely insane as he started scribbling more and more incoherent things, drawing scary-looking pictures and doodles and basically turning the book into a showcase for criminal psychology.

On the last page (endpapers) he/she simply wrote "Yep." I laughed so hard that I almost got thrown out of the library.

Because I was assistant at the department at the time, I asked for the book to be replaced and still today the "illustrated" one is kept in a special place at the institute to be pulled out by various professors once in a while in lectures prior to final exams.
