It’s the dreaded first business day of the month, which means… invoicing day. Oh, well. As much as I hate the paperwork, invoicing (sometimes) means getting payments, so there you have it.

Had a fun weekend, am feeling much better (and hopefully will be sounding good enough to sing this weekend—it’s our band’s “on” week). Just did one of my new yoga DVDs and am happy I purchased it—I think it will help with labor and delivery (assuming I keep doing it! ).

Never heard back about the pumpkin contest, so that’s an assumed “no.” Was hoping it would pay off, but in the end it was really just a $7 gamble (well, you know, plus the hours and hours of carving but those were fun).

• Style my small WordPress-based gallery plugin
• Make a couple of small client-requested tweaks

The reward

Play time with colors, themes, and Twitter backgrounds. Or sewing.

Had a great long weekend visiting with my family and friends. It’s hard to get down to work after all that, but I guess I’ll give it a shot.

Found out Friday that my glucose levels are on the high side, which doesn’t come as a surprise to anyone who knows me… Time to get that under control. No more massive cake consumption. It’s important for the baby’s health, of course, and also because overdoing carbs/sugar is likely to make him bigger, which could mean a C-section, and I’d rather avoid that if possible. That’s pretty motivating.

Neither Daniel or I have historically been “yoga people” (though we both are aware of its benefits) but yesterday I ordered both of us some yoga workouts on DVD.

Mine are for 3rd trimester of pregnancy, and will hopefully help with flexibility and strength for labor and delivery. His are cycling-specific and supposed to help with “mental toughness” among other things—but the catalyst is that guys who beat him on the bike recommended them.

Oh, and we finally bought a new mattress set yesterday—it was only a month late for the anniversary present to ourselves that it was intended to be! We were pleasantly surprised by both the service and the prices at Denver Mattress, and enjoyed a good night’s sleep. At some point we’ll need to do the great mattress swap and move our old one to the nursery and the one in the nursery to Peter and Leanna’s apartment.

• Invoice the client who has a weird accounting schedule
• Check my music for next weekend’s church services
• Migrate my church website to WordPress MU for better expandability

The first day of a new month (rabbit rabbit!) and it’s the one that feels most like “autumn” to me—nevermind that it’s supposed to get up to almost 90° F today! The only downside: dreaded invoicing day. I really hate invoicing. A lot.

One reason for my passionate loathing is just the simple fact that it involves doing tedious tasks that I’m not particularly good at. If that was it, though, I’d outsource it and be done with it. The worse part is that I have to go through all of my PayPal transactions and categorize them, make sure everything matches, and realize that I’m putting in tons of hours and making very little money as a result. That’s just depressing.

So today I’ll get through evil invoicing first in hopes of having a better rest of the day. I haven’t even showered yet—don’t worry, it will immediately follow invoicing.

I also need to fit in some baking for our church gathering tonight—I’ve committed to bring some bread and I’m thinking about a certain bread machine roll recipe + a pan of cornbread. Neither will take very much active time but I need to remember to start early enough.

• Do two specific tasks on a client site (being vague here for privacy reasons)
• Create three new videos for my training course and write text versions for all four videos

The reward

I’ll allow myself to read as many of my blog feeds as I want (when my work is done). I have about 150 unread posts, and spent some time last night reducing the incoming flow, so I’m looking forward to catching up.
